O Magazine Brings Queer Women to the Spotlight

Oprah's O Magazine has a new article by Mary Fischer discussing queer women, gender identity and sexual fluidity. The article goes into personal stories and brings the general public and even members of the community closer to understanding the sexual continuum and the fluidity of our identities.

Check out the article "Why Women are Leaving Men for other Women" on Oprah's website.

Also, be sure to share your opinion and thank O Magazine for initiating dialogue on a taboo and often misunderstood topic that we are just beginning to scratch the surface on as a community and society as a whole.

H/T to Feministing for the article and analysis.

Why the title "Why Women are Leaving Men for other Women" ...as if lesbian women were done wrong by men, or men had any thing to do with it. Sigh...hopefully the article is better than the title.

I don't like the title either, and yes the article is better.

yeah, it was better, but still it focused on girly girls with manly girls. not one of the relationships was about any sort of difference from that mold.

"manly girls" lmao.

I happen to be a girly girl who likes "manly girls"...usually we aren't represented. Usually it's only girly girls, at least with mainstream publications.

I'm happy "O" is being inclusive, but it still doesn't represent working-class / working -poor Gay, Lesbian, or Bi-women. I don't know that one woman was represented as fem and one as "manly". Remember, gender is (at least in part) an elitist construct...

I am in the process of reading this article presently, and am glad Oprah has included this in her magazine. And I'll tell ya why _this_ woman left her man for another woman... OK now back to the "O" article.
Thanks QU!
